PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team picked up a thrilling victory Friday night over Ursuline College on the road in Great Midwest play, defeating the Arrows 3-2.
The Senators and Arrows traded sets, with each one before the final decided by three points or less. Davis & Elkins won 25-22, before falling 22-25 in set two. D&E then won 25-22 in set three before dropping set four 23-25. The Senators pulled ahead early in set five, going on to clinch the match 15-9.
Kaitlyn LaCour led the way for the Senators sharing for the team lead in kills with 14. LaCour also led the Senators in digs with 25 and was second for D&E contributing on eight blocks.
Solei Daniels and
Charisse Mitchell joined LaCour with 14 kills as well on the night. Mitchell led the Senators with a .346 attacking percentage.
Lillie Mueller finished with eight kills and also hit at a .333 clip on the night. Mueller also led the Senators by contributing on 10 blocks for Davis & Elkins. The Senators finished the night with 16 total blocks.
Mitchell contributed on five blocks in the match, while
Raleighanne Weaver chipped in with three blocks.
Kelly Smith,
Briana Hoffmann and
Madi Gil all joined LaCour in double figures in digs. Smith finished with 15 digs, while Hoffmann had 14. Gil finished with 11 digs and also led the Senators with two service aces.
Davis & Elkins will close out the season on Saturday with a match against Lake Erie College. The Senators are set for a 1 p.m. serve against the Storm in Painesville.
