ELKINS – The Davis and Elkins Men's Soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest against Tiffin University Thursday night.
Both teams started slow, trying to find a way into each other's defense but the Senators were unable to get a shot until the 17
th minute when
Pedro Bassin Nunes' attempt went high.
The Senators would get two more shots from junior
Abel Ameyaw, but not enough to beat Tiffin's goalie Dylan Morris.
The visitors outshot D&E 5-3 in the first half, but neither team was able to take an advantage, as
Richard Glemawu stopped both efforts on target by Tiffin before half-time.
The Dragons started strong after the break and found space inside the box on a cross from the wing that Ramiesh McKnight would connect on to beat Glemawu three minutes into the second period.
The Senators would answer with several scoring chances, including header from Bassin and
Charles Mavronis, but the efforts were saved.
With numbers forward, the Senators would then give up a counter-attack that resulted in a second goal for the visitors and a second from McKnight.
The Senators kept pushing hard and got back into the game when
Markus Just scored on a free-kick from about 30 yards out, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
D&E outshot Tiffin in the second half (13-9) but wasn't able to find an equalizer despite two more quality scoring chances.
Davis and Elkins will host Findlay in its next game this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
