VIENNA, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team fell to Ohio Valley 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
The Senators tied things up after dropping the first set 25-18, by winning the second set in convincing fashion 25-14. However, the Senators struggled in attacking in sets three and four, ultimately falling 25-19 and 25-14.
Davis & Elkins hit just .080 for the match, recording 35 kills with 24 attacking errors. The Senators also had six service errors in the match.
The Senators were led defensively by
Kelly Smith, who recorded a team high 23 digs. Smith also had three aces in the game.
Kaitlyn LaCour and
Alexa Smarra also had double-digit digs, with LaCour recording 16 and Smarra finishing with 11.
LaCour led the Senators with 14 kills, hitting .152 for the match.
Raleighanne Weaver was second with eight kills, while
Lillie Mueller finished with seven kills and a team high .222 attacking percentage.
Elyse Bonnett and
Jessa Henry split setting duties, with Bonnett recording 19 assists and Henry finishing with 12.
Henry, Mueller and
Hope Jennings all contributed to a pair of blocks.
Davis & Elkins will have six days off before wrapping up the season with its first of two games in Ohio next weekend. The Senators will travel to Ursuline for a Friday night match at 7 p.m. before closing up the season on Saturday at Lake Erie at 1 p.m.
