PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Soccer team punched its ticket to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament by defeating rival Alderson Broaddus 2-1 Saturday night.
The Senators took the lead in the 37
th minute when
Roxanne McFarlin took a pass from
Bailey Aab and beat Diyonus Walls to give D&E the advantage late in the first half.
Ellie Rossiter doubled the lead less than six minutes later as she scored off a ball from
Tessa Stewart to double the Senators advantage.
Alderson Broaddus would get one back before halftime as Devin Jones scored to cut the Senators lead in half 63 seconds before the break.
The second half would be almost all in favor of the Senators, who didn't allow a shot against in the final 45 minutes.
Alderson Broaddus had a pair of corner kicks, but
Lauren Hill would take control of both with ease. Hill finished with one save.
The Senators had 13 shots in the contest with eight shots on target. Davis & Elkins also had five corner kicks in the match to three from the Battlers.
Davis & Elkins has one more game in the regular season, wrapping up with Ohio Valley on Tuesday night. The game is set for 7:30 p.m., following the men's contest and senior day festivities.
