ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team fell to Malone University 3-0 Friday night in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
The Senators challenged the division leaders early on, but fell to Malone 25-19, 25-15, 25-19.
Davis & Elkins struggled attacking, hitting just .092 as a team with 20 errors. Malone also hit .246 in the game.
Alexa Smarra led the Senators with nine kills in the match. She finished with the teams second highest attacking percentage at .231 and also had eight digs and an assist in the game.
Raleighanne Weaver and
Charisse Mitchell were second and third in kills for Davis & Elkins, finishing with eight and five, respectively. Mitchell had the teams' highest attacking percentage, hitting .571.
Defensively,
Kelly Smith led the Senators with 13 digs in the match. Kelly also had a team high three aces.
Lillie Mueller finished with two aces.
Elyse Bonnett,
Madi Gil and Briana Hoffman all finished with nine digs in the game. Bonnett led the Senators with 17 assists, while
Jessa Henry finished with 12.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday with Senior Day against Walsh. First serve is set for 2 p.m. with Senior Day festivities prior to the match at the McDonnell Center.
