TIFFIN, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Soccer team fell to Tiffin University 3-1 Thursday afternoon in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play at Paradiso Fields.
The Senators fell behind four minutes into the contest and were never able to recover, despite outshooting the hosts in shots on target in the game.
Darren Appanah gave Tiffin the lead, finishing a rebound off of a shot from Tom Maas to put the hosts up 1-0 at the 3:41 mark.
Appanah then sent a cross in to Joel Daly, who scored on a diving header to put Tiffin up by two.
The Senators controlled large portions of the first half, firing four shots on target before finding the back of the net with a goal in the 43
rd minute.
Carlos Cruza fed a pass to
Cesar Matteo Ghezzi, who beat Dylan Morris from 25 yards out to cut the deficit in half.
In the second half, the Senators had four shots on target and also had a pair of corners but were unable to find an equalizer.
With numbers pushing forward for the Senators, Tiffin was able to seal the victory as Malik Suleman took a pass from Darren Appanah and chipped over
Richard Glemawu for the Dragons' third goal.
The Senators will have a quick turnaround, as Davis & Elkins will travel to Philippi to take on Alderson Broaddus on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader following the women's contest.
