SALEM, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Salem University Friday night on the road in non-conference action.
The Senators battled to a first-set victory, winning 25-21 before cruising on to the win with set victories of 25-11 and 25-17 in sets two and three.
Solei Daniels led the Senators with 11 kills in the match, hitting .240 on the night.
Lillie Mueller finished second for the Senators with seven kills but hit a team high .583 in the match.
Raleighanne Weaver had six kills to finish third for the Senators. Weaver and Daniels also were a part of two blocks each, second only behind
Hope Jennings, who was a part of four blocks.
Defensively on the back line,
Kaitlyn LaCour led the Senators with 13 digs, while
Kelly Smith joined her in double figures with 11 digs. Mueller and
Briana Hoffmann finished with five digs each.
Madi Gil and
Elyse Bonnett each finished with three service aces in the match to lead the Senators. LaCour had two aces, while Smith and Mueller had one each.
Bonnett also led the Senators with 17 assists.
Davis & Elkins hit .205 as a team for the game, while holding Salem to a .000 attacking percentage.
The Senators also had 10 aces to just four for the Tigers.
Davis & Elkins will return to action next Friday, taking on Malone at the McDonnell Center. The first serve is set for 7 p.m.
