CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Soccer team fell to Cedarville 2-0 Thursday evening in Great Midwest play.
The Senators fell behind in the 28th minute as the hosts took the lead on a free kick. Bex Vellonery capitalized on a foul from 30 yards out and fired a free kick into the top corner.
Davis & Elkins kept the game close until the 82nd minute when the Senators gave up a penalty kick for a foul in the box. Creslyn Van Dyck converted the penalty and secured the win for the Yellow Jackets.
Cedarville outshot the Senators 14-4 in the game, 4-1 in efforts on target.
Samantha Cozzolino had three of the Senators shots, with
Asheli Freed having the other shot.
Lauren Hill finished with two saves in the game.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Saturday, hosting Ohio Dominican for homecoming. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. start at Nuttall Field with a special Celebration of Soccer scheduled for halftime.
