Senators Dominate Second Half For Big Victory Over Malone

ELKINSAliyah Dukes scored 25 points and Kali Wilburn added a double-double to lead the Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team to a 74-53 victory over Malone University in front of a packed crowd at the McDonnell Center on Thursday night.
 
The Senators struggled to find their rhythm early in the game, falling behind the visitors 18-12 after the first 10 minutes. However, Davis & Elkins outscored Malone the rest of the way, including 22-11 in the third quarter and 26-14 in the fourth quarter.
 
Dukes was 9-for-15 from the field in the game, including 6-for-9 from behind the arc to lead all scorers with 25 points in the contest. The senior also had five assists and four rebounds in the game.
 
Kali Wilburn had a huge game on the boards, pulling down 15 rebounds, eight more than any other player in the game. Wilburn also had 14 points in the game to complete her double-double and the junior also had a game high three steals.
 
Sydney Turner and Kaylee Yergeau also finished in double figures for the Senators. Turner finished with 15 points, including four three pointers. Turner also collected seven rebounds, second most in the game behind Wilburn.
 
Yergeau finished 5-for-8 from the field, collecting 10 points off the bench for the Senators.
 
Davis & Elkins held Malone to just 34.5 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent shooting from 3-point range.
 
The Senators also outrebounded Malone 39-32 in the contest.
 
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Saturday, as the Senators host Walsh at 12 p.m. inside the McDonnell Center.
