Women's Basketball Drops G-MAC Contest At Trevecca

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team fell to Trevecca Nazarene 84-71 on Saturday.
 
The Senators, who led by as much as 11 points with 2:04 remaining in the third quarter, scored just seven points in the fourth quarter, as the hosts capitalized on D&E turnovers to comeback and with a 28-point final quarter.
 
Davis & Elkins trailed after the first quarter, but seemingly took control of the game in the second quarter to take a 43-38 lead into the break. The Senators extended that lead in the third quarter before being outscore by 21 in the final frame.
 
Despite a poor fourth quarter, Davis & Elkins shot 52 percent from the floor, while Trevecca shot just 44 percent. And the Senators outrebounded the Trojans 35-29.
 
However, the Senators had 22 turnovers in the contest, while forcing only six from the Trojans.
 
Jamiyah Johnson led the way for the Senators, coming off the bench to score 10 points and grab 12 rebounds in just 18 minutes of action. Johnson also had two blocks.
 
Aliyah Dukes led the Senators in scoring, finishing with 15 points in the game.
 
Kali Wilburn (14) and Jay Kilpatrick (10) also finished in double figures for the Senators.
 
Wilburn and Sydney Turner each had five rebounds, tied for second most in the game for D&E. Kilpatrick led the Senators with four assists.
 
Davis & Elkins will return home to face Malone in their next game. The Senators will host the Pioneers on Thursday, January 25, with a tip off set for 5:30 p.m. in the McDonnell Center.
