PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Soccer team opened Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on the road Wednesday with a 1-1 draw against rival Alderson Broaddus.
The Senators had to come from behind as the hosts took an early with a goal from Ellis Roberts in the eighth minute from a corner kick.
Alderson Broaddus would fire four more shots in the first half, but were unable to test
Everton Carvalho again.
The Senators put two shots on target in the first half, but were unable to find an equalizer until the second half.
Rafa Moreno tied the game in the second half when he scored his second goal in as many games with a free kick effort in the 68th minute.
Carvalho was also called into action throughout the second half, making three saves to help send the game to extra time.
D&E would put three shots on target in the 20 minutes of extra time, but were unable to find the winner.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday and step back into non-conference play with a game against No. 17 Mercyhurst. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start at Nuttall Field.
