PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - The Davis & Elkins Volleyball Team defeated conference opponent Ursuline in a convincing fashion by winning in straights sets on Friday night.
Davis & Elkins started off the first set by falling behind 14-10 before a timeout. After the timeout, they rallied to win the set 25-20.
In the second set, the Senators stormed to a 8-2 lead and the set was relatively close, until the Arrows took the lead at 21-20. D&E fell behind again after falling 23-22, but proceeded in taking three straight points to win the set.
In the third set, both D&E and the Arrows traded leads until D&E took control of the set by taking the lead at 12-11, and hanging onto it until the end of set.
The Senators led in every statistical category, including 55 points compared to 37 points from the opponent and 45 kills compared to 32 kills. D&E also had five aces.
Senior
Sasha Johnson led the team in kills with 10, followed by
Lillie Mueller and
Anna Gallup, who each had nine kills.
Sophomore
Lillie Mueller led the way with two aces, followed by Senior
Zoe Craig and Johnson.
Johnson had three blocks,
Raleighanne Weaver had two, and Craig had one.
Craig had 31 assists, followed by
Kaitlyn LaCour with two, and Gallup with one.
Sophomore
Kelly Smith led the team in digs with 12, followed by Mueller and LaCour, who each had 11.
The Senators return to action on Tuesday night in Vienna, W.Va., against Ohio Valley at 7 p.m.
