ELKINS - The Davis & Elkins Women's Soccer fell to Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponent Walsh University 1-0 Thursday afternoon at Nuttall Field, suffering their first loss in conference play this season.
 
The Senators dominated the first 25 minutes, holding much of the possession and getting off several shots.
 
D&E launched waves of attack against the Cavaliers' defense but they were unable to find the back of the net.
 
The Senators best chance came from an 
Abby Alexa shot that sailed just over the crossbar. After that, Walsh took control of the game and started to threaten the Senator backline.
 
Neither team could separate themselves in the first 45 minutes however, as the teams headed into the second half tied at 0.
 
Late in the game, the Cavaliers broke the deadlock in the when Corynne Swift scored after a scramble in the box. Swift connected on a ball from about six yards out to put the visitors ahead in the 82
nd minute.
 
Junior 
Lauren Hill played her first game of the season in goal and made seven saves, keeping the game tight to the end.
 
Alexa finished with two shots, one of which was on goal.
 
The Senators return to Nuttall Field on Saturday against conference opponent Malone. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
