ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Soccer team fell 3-1 to Concord University on a rainy Friday night at Nuttall Field to open the 2017 season.
It took 13 minutes for the first shot of the game and another few minutes before
Samantha Wehri was called into action to make the opening save of the game.
However, Concord would take the lead in the 22nd minute with a goal from Yasmin Mosby.
21 minutes into the second half, the Mountain Lions would double their lead with Mira Kontio connecting on a cross from the right wing.
The Senators would get on the scoreboard five minutes later. After a foul was called about 10 yards outside of the box,
Brianna Rackey quickly stepped up and beat Katie Maher with a shot to the top of the net.
The Senators were unable to get closer however, as Delaney Crumblish scored in the 80th minute to seal the victory for the visitors.
Wehri finished with six saves in the match.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Monday, as the Senators welcome in Indiana PA for a 4 p.m. start at Nuttall Field.
