ATHENS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Baseball team fell late to Concord University 7-4 on Wednesday in a midweek battle with at Anderson Field.
The Senators took an early lead in the second inning with
Cody Gwinn's RBI single to center that scored
Derek Sicca from second base.
Davis & Elkins would add to the lead in the third inning when
Robbie McKinney tripled to left center, scoring
Tanner Ray, who led off the inning with a walk.
In the very next at bat, McKinney would come home to score as
Garrett Dorton hit a sacrifice fly to left field.
The Senators would extend their lead in the fourth with
Steven White's RBI single to left that scored Gwinn from second.
Defensively,
Cody Luker tossed three scoreless innings to lead off the game for D&E. Luker would allow three hits, while recording a strikeout.
Arman Lakhani pitched into the sixth inning, but gave up three runs in the sixth.
Owen Arbogast would give up three more runs, as part of a six-run sixth inning for the hosts.
Concord would add one more in the seventh and held the Senators scoreless over the final innings.
The Senators will return to action this weekend with a four-game G-MAC series against Trevecca Nazarene scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is set for first pitch at 12 p.m.
