OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Davis & Elkins College Baseball team dropped the final two games of its Great Midwest Athletic Conference series at Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday, falling 11-2 and 12-5.
The Senators fell behind early in game one, as the hosts scored a run in the bottom of the first.
Garrett Dorton answered back for the Senators in the second inning, hitting a solo homerun to tie the game at 1.
However, Kentucky Wesleyan would plate six rounds in the bottom half of the inning.
In the fourth inning,
Michael Wood scored on
Johnny Liu's bases loaded hit by pitch, but that would be the last run the Senators would score in the contest.
Wood and
Bragg Eastin each finished with two of the five hits for the Senators in the contest.
In game two, the Senators would take a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Eastin had a two-RBI double to left center, scoring
Hunter Thomas and Dorton. Wood followed it up in the next at bat with another double, scoring Eastin.
The lead was short-lived, as the Panthers scored three in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game up.
In the third, Wood gave the Senators another lead, as he tripled to right field, scoring Eastin, who had singled with two outs in the previous at bat.
However, Kentucky Wesleyan would pull away with five runs in the third and then three more in the fourth.
Frank Masella's RBI single in the eighth inning would cap the scoring, as Wood scored on the play.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Wednesday, as they host Glenville State in a single game at Harpertown Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
