OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Davis &Â Elkins College Baseball team fell to Kentucky Wesleyan in a double header on Friday to open up the four-game Great Midwest Athletic Conference series.
The Senators fell in game one 12-3 and then lost game two 13-1.
The offense struggled to get going early on, as the Senators were held scoreless into the seventh inning of the opener. Manuel Sanatamaria had an RBI single to left, scoring
Hunter Thomas to get on the board, but by that point, the hosts had already scored 11 runs.
Thomas finished the game with three hits.and also scored two runs.
Bragg Eastin had an RBI single in a 1-for-2 day with two walks. Eastin's hit in the ninth scored
Frank Masella and Thomas scored the their and final run for the Senators in the next at bat on a wild pitch.
Austin Main picked up the loss, allowing two runs on a hit, three walks and two hit batters in one inning of work.
In game two, The Senators answered the Panthers run in the first by tying up the game on
Michael Wood's ball in play that allowed
Cody Gwinn to score on a fielder's choice error.
However, the hosts would score three in the second and six in the third before adding three more in the fifth to cap the scoring.
Johnny Liu finished with a multi-hit game, recording a pair of singles.
Tyler Honeycutt picked up the loss, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits. He had four strikeouts in four innings pitched.
Davis & Elkins will look to rebound tomorrow with the final two games of the series, which are scheduled to start at noon.
