ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team picked up a 79-65 win on Thursday night over Trevecca Nazarene at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators (17-5, 7-3 G-MAC) took the lead in the third minute and slowly pulled away from the Trojans (5-16, 1-9 G-MAC) over the course of the game, leading by as much as 18 in the win.
Stephanie Wooten led the Senators to their seventh straight win at home with 22 points. She also contributed with six assists and three rebounds.
Kali Wilburn and
Jay Kilpatrick joined Wooten in double figures. Wilburn finished with 12 points and collected three rebounds and a pair of steals.
Kilpatrick had 13 points and finished with three assists and two rebounds.
Sydney Turner led the Senators on the glass with eight rebounds. She also finished with six points.
Davis & Elkins outrebounded Trevecca 41-30 in the contest. The Senators also shot 47.1 percent from the field, including a 42.1 percent mark from behind the arc, while holding the visitors to just 28 percent from 3-point range on 25 attempts.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday as they host Kentucky Wesleyan. The game is set for a 2 p.m. start in the McDonnell Center.
