ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team fell to Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday 67-53, snapping a 7-game win streak at home for the Senators.
Davis & Elkins (17-6, 7-4 G-MAC) fell behind early to the Panthers (16-6, 6-5 G-MAC), but remained close with the visitors, trailing by just two points at the break.
In the third quarter, the Senators were able to take the lead and led by as much as six, but were unable to cool down a hot run from Kentucky Wesleyan in the fourth quarter.
Stephanie Wooten led the way for the Senators in scoring, as she finished with 18 points. She also added three rebounds and a steal.
Kali Wilburn led the Senators on the glass with 11 rebounds in the game. She also had five points and finished with a pair of blocks and a steal.
Three senators had two blocks, as
Sydney Turner and
Alicia Roth joined Wilburn for the co-lead. Turner was second on the team with nine rebounds.
Aliyah Dukes finished second for the Senators in scoring with 10 points, the only other Senator in double figures.
The Senators will return to action on Monday with a trip to Concord for the final non-conference game of the season. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
