ATHENS, W.Va. - The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team wrapped up non-conference play on Monday night with an 80-64 victory over Concord University.
The Senators jumped out to a 25-10 lead after one quarter and quickly expanded on it with a 20-1 run to start the second quarter.
Concord cut the deficit in the second half, but the Senators held on comfortably for their 18th win of the season, moving the 2016-17 team into a tie for the fourth most wins in school history, one behind second (19) and four behind the all-time mark (22).
Davis & Elkins was led by
Stephanie Wooten, who scored 32 points to lead all scorers in the contest. Wooten is also approaching a milestone, as the senior has 1,679 career points, 23 points shy of the all-time D&E Record held by Cindy Stinger (1,702).
Wooten also had six assists, two rebounds and two steals in the game.
Kali Wilburn picked up her first double-double of the season and her fourth of her D&E career with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the game. The sophomore led the Senators in rebounds and was 5-of-6 from the field.
Sydney Turner joined Wooten and Wilburn in double figures, scoring 11 points. Turner also recorded four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
The Senators will now set their sights back on conference play as D&E closes out the regular season with three-more games including the next two at home. Davis & Elkins will face Malone on Thursday in a single game starting at 5:30 p.m.
