SALEM, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team picked up a 74-68 victory on the road Monday night, defeating Salem International at the T. Edward Davis Gym.
Stephanie Wooten led all scorers, finishing with 33 points, including five three pointers. Wooten was also 10-for-11 from the free-throw stripe, a key part of an 88 percent average for the Senators at the line.
Wooten scored 17 in the first half and added 16 more in the second half. She was joined by
Sydney Turner in double figures, who finished with 16 points, including 13 in the second half.
Turner led the Senators with six rebounds as D&E finished with six players recording 4+ rebounds.
The Senators needed a late surge, as Salem International tied the game at 68 with 1:22 remaining.
Jay Kilpatrick gave the Senators the lead with 32 seconds left and after a defensive rebound by Wooten,
Kali Wilburn sealed the victory with a layup to go up four. Turner added two free throws late for the final points.
The Senators will return to action on Thursday as D&E hosts Trevecca Nazarene at the McDonnell Center. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
