VIENNA, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team returned to winning ways with a 75-59 victory over Ohio Valley University on Saturday afternoon.
Stephanie Wooten led all scorers with 25 points and
Kali Wilburn added 19 points as the duo helped D&E (15-5, 6-3 G-MAC) grab the lead for good from the 4:18 point of the first quarter and hold onto it for the remainder of the contest.
The Senators slowly pulled away from the Fighting Scots (6-15, 0-9 G-MAC), holding an 8-point advantage at the break. D&E added to it in the third quarter, going ahead by as much as 18 points, cruising to the victory.
Wooten had her 12th 20+ point performance of the season, and her fourth straight game over the 20-point mark.
The senior also led the team with five assists and chipped in with three rebounds and two steals.
Wilburn fell a few rebounds shy of a double-double, leading the team with eight rebounds in the game to go along with her season high 19 points. Wilburn also led the Senators with three steals.
Sydney Turner was second on the team with seven rebounds, helping the Senators outrebound Ohio Valley 43-39.
The Senators will return to action on Monday as Davis & Elkins jumps back into non-conference play with a return trip to Salem International. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. against the Tigers.
