SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Davis & Elkins College Baseball team fell to Armstrong State 17-7 Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game series.
After the two teams split yesterday's game, both teams led early in game three. Armstrong took a lead in the bottom of the first with a run.
However, the Senators answered back with two runs in the second inning, scoring on back-to-back bases loaded walks from
Tanner Ray and
Robbie McKinney.
The Senators lead would be short-lived, as the Pirates scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning and then added four runs in the third and two more runs in the fourth.
Johnny Liu would have a pinch-hit RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, scoring
Michael Wood for the Senators only run in the fifth.
After Armstrong scored four in the bottom of the fifth, D&E would answer back with three runs in the sixth inning. Wood had a RBI bases loaded walk with two outs and Liu followed it up with a 2-RBI single to right field.
The Senators would add one more run in the eighth inning, as Liu reached on an error that allowed McKinney to score.
Arman Lakhani would get the loss for the Senators, allowing six earned runs in 3 innings.
Davis & Elkins will be back in action next Saturday, playing at home for the first time in 2017, hosting California University of Pennsylvania for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
