PHILIPPI, WV - The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team fell to rival Alderson Broaddus 67-64 to close out the regular season on Saturday at the Rex Pyles Arena.
In a game that featured 19 lead changes, the Senators had their largest lead of the game, five points, with six minutes remaining, but the hosts came back and grabbed a two-point lead in the final minute.
Kali Wilburn made a free throw to cut the deficit to one with 15 seconds remaining, but the Battlers were able to avoid the Senators press until 1.8 seconds left, being fouled to go to the line.
After both free throws were made and a timeout from D&E, the Senators had one last look with a three-point shot from
Stephanie Wooten that bounced off the back of the iron as time expired.
Wooten led the team with 22 points on the afternoon, including five three pointers. She also finished with seven assists and five rebounds.
Wilburn joined Wooten in double figures, scoring 13 points. She also had five rebounds.
Sydney Turner led the Senators with six rebounds in the game. Turner also had nine points from a trio of three pointers.
The Senators will now set their sights on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament next week in Pepper Pike, Ohio. No. 5 seed Davis & Elkins will play No. 4 seed Kentucky Wesleyan in the first round of the tournament.
