PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team fell to Ursuline College 92-72 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener on Thursday night.
The Senators (8-3, 0-1 G-MAC) fell behind Ursuline (9-5, 1-0 G-MAC) in the first quarter, as the Arrows jumped out to a 10-point lead with a 16-6 run to start the game. Davis & Elkins made a surge back in the second quarter, erasing a 9-point first quarter deficit to just two points, at 37-35, headed into the break.
Davis & Elkins kept the game close early in the second half, but the hosts would use a 20-4 run over the final 4:58 of the third quarter to pull away from the Senators.
Tajee Pledger finished with a season high 15 points in the game and also collected three rebounds in 16 minutes for the Senators.
Nicole Armstrong also joined Pledger in double figures with a season high, scoring 12 points in the contest. Armstrong also had two rebounds.
Stephanie Wooten finished with a team high 20 points in the game. Wooten also had four assists.
Jay Kilpatrick matched Wooten with four assists for the team high.
Casey Johnson led the team with six rebounds.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday with the first game of a doubleheader for Davis & Elkins against Malone. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
