ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team set a G-MAC record for threes in a game as the Senators defeated Bluefield State 104-64 Tuesday night at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators made 19 three pointers in the contest, topping the previous record of 17 held by Alderson Broaddus. The Senators were 57.6 from behind the arc and were led by
Sydney Turner (5-for-5) and
Stephanie Wooten (5-for-8).
Wooten recorded 17 points to go along with nine assists and six rebounds. Turner finished with 15 points and collected four rebounds.
Aliyah Dukes also had four three pointers and finished with a team high 18 points in the game.
The Senators had five players in double figures, as
Kali Wilburn and
Tajee Pledger had 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Davis & Elkins also outrebounded Bluefield State 42-35, but did so in a collective effort as all but one of the 13 players who played for the Senators tonight had at least one rebound. Wilburn and Wooten shared for the team high with six.
The Senators also had 31 assists on the night, the second most in a game in G-MAC history.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Thursday, as the Senators travel to Kentucky Wesleyan. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. in Owensboro, Kentucky.
