ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team picked up its second straight G-MAC victory with a 71-62 win over Cedarville on Saturday in the McDonnell Center.
The Senators jumped out to an early lead and pulled away over the first 10 minutes to a 24-14 advantage. Cedarville chipped away slowly and cut the lead to 46-44 early in the fourth quarter before D&E pulled away.
Stephanie Wooten led the Senators in scoring and was one of three players in double figures for Davis & Elkins. Wooten finished with 14 points and also had six assists and four rebounds.
Aliyah Dukes and
Sydney Turner also finished in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Turner led the Senators with eight rebounds and also had three assists. Dukes grabbed three rebounds and also had a pair of steals.
The Senators finished with eight steals in the game, helping to force 12 Cedarville turnovers. D&E also outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 45-37 in the game.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Tuesday, jumping back into non-conference play as the Senators face Bluefield State.Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. in the McDonnell Center.
