PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Senators fell to Ursuline College 1-2 Thursday night in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener.
The Senators fell behind early as Jill Bohling scored 4:15 into the contest to put the hosts up 1-0.
The two teams were even the remainder of the first half as both squads forced the keepers into three saves a piece in the opening 45 minutes.
The Senators and Arrows also had three corner kicks each in the first half.
Coming out of the break, Ursuline again struck quickly, as Bohling added her second goal in the 51st minute to double the Ursuline lead.
However, the Senators were able to strike back as
Katrina Giantsopoulos tallied her first goal of the season in the 54th minute to cut the deficit in half.
The Senators tried to rally late in the contest as
Jessica Woodbyrne sent a shot high in the 81st minute before forcing Helen Jazzar into a save less than a minute later.
Lauren Hill finished with five saves in the game.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Saturday, wrapping up a four-game road swing to begin the season with a 4:30 p.m. kickoff against Malone University.
