EDINBORO, Pa. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Soccer team fell to #20 Edinboro University of Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon, 0-4to open up the 2016 season.
The Fighting Scots jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first 19 minutes of the game. Alex Root started the scoring on a breakaway following a lead out pass from Danielle Chatten.
Just over 10 minutes later, Edinboro added a second tally when Alex Brown scored from 10 yards out in the 19th minute.
Katrina Giantsopoulos then tested Sarah Baskey, but her shot was saved. The two teams were held scoreless over the remainder of the first half.
In the second half, Edinboro had a chance to add another tally with a penalty shot awarded following a Senators foul.
Lauren Hill saved the penalty shot from Coleen Brodman.
Hill finished with five saves in the game.
However, just 22 seconds later a cross came into the box, and Morgan Hamker was able to score to put the hosts up by three.
Just two minutes later Edinboro scored again as Brodman put home a rebound after Hill stopped an effort from Brown.
The Senators will return to action next week with a trip back up to Pennsylvania to take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
