ELKINS – Mads Kaiser's second half goal propelled the Senators to their fifth straight win as Davis & Elkins College defeated California University of Pennsylvania 1-0 on Tuesday night at Nuttall Field.
 
Kaiser took a cross from Pablo Salvador Lopez across the middle of the 18-yard box and the played it to the left of Lucas Exner and into the net for the only goal of the game.
 
The teams held each other scoreless in the first half with just one D&E shot finding itself on target. All seven of the Vulcans shots missed wide or high in the first half.
 
Over 30 minutes were played in the second half before Kaiser broke through with the game winner.
 
Less than two minutes later, California (PA) was sent to 10 men as Mike Cummings was sent off for a second yellow card, both of which came for fouls on Hedi Mehnaoui in goal for the Senators.
 
On the scoresheet, Mehnaoui made one save in his third consecutive clean sheet. The keeper also had a couple vital clears and cover ups to keep California off the board.
 
The Senators will return to action on Saturday with its game against Alderson Broaddus. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. after the conclusion of the women's game in the doubleheader.
