OWENSBORO, Ky. – Senior
Kaitlyn Buoni and sophomore
Katrina Giantsopoulos scored to lead Davis & Elkins to a 2-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday night in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
Giantsopoulos started off the scoring quick for the Senators (3-3-0, 3-1-0 G-MAC), as the reigning G-MAC Offensive Athlete of the Week grabbed her fourth goal of the season in just the third minute.
Buoni followed soon after, scoring in the 18
th minute to double the visitors lead. For Buoni, it was her first goal of the season.
The night looked to be in good control for the Senators until Giantsopoulos was issued a red card in the 71
st minute.
The Senators had to play down for the remainder of the games, but strong goal keeping by
Lauren Hill earned a shutout.
Hill finished with six saves in the match, stopping all of Kentucky Wesleyan's (2-3-1, 2-1-1 G-MAC) efforts toward goal. The cleansheet is Hill's second in her last three games.
Giantsopolous will miss Saturday's game against Trevecca due to the suspension from the red card offense.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday with a trip south to the Music City to face Trevecca Nazarene. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. in Nashville.
