PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team fell 1-3 in a pair of matches on Saturday to Lake Erie College and Shippensburg University.
In game one, the Senators fell to the Storm of Lake Erie 13-25, 25-18, 15-25, 22-25.
The Senators struggled in the first set, hitting -.037. However the responded to hit .333 in the second set, tying up the match at one set apiece.
However, the Storm hit .294 in the third set, while D&E hit .000, as Lake Erie took a 2-1 lead.
The Senators played a tight third set but fell to the Storm for the match.
In game two, the Senators jumped out to a flying start with a 25-19 win over the Raiders, who entered the match with just one loss on the season.
However, Shippensburg dominated the second set hitting .360 while D&E hit .059, as the Senators fell 11-25.
The Senators played a close third set despite hitting .000. D&E had nine kills, but also had nine attacking errors as the Senators fell 21-25.
In the fourth and final set, Shippensburg controlled it the whole way defeating the Senators 25-9.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Tuesday with the first home game of the season. The Senators will face Salem International with the first serve scheduled for 6 p.m.
