ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team opened up its home season with a dominating 3-0 win over Salem International Tuesday night.
The Senators struggled early but recovered for a 25-18 win in set one. D&E then won 25-13 and 25-15 to close out the match.
D&E had a huge presence up front, attacking at a .425 clip for the contest. The Senators also had eight blocks in the match without being blocked once.
Elizabeth Estes led the team with 13 kills and also played her part in five blocks for the match.
Anna Gallup and
Sasha Johnson had eight and seven kills respectively to join in the attack. Johnson was also a part of five blocks up front.
The Senators had 10 aces in the match, led by
Lindsey Brittle's three.
Kendall Jacobson also had two aces.
Zoe Craig led the team with 27 assists.
Devin Saucy chipped in with three assists and
Michaela Touchet had two.
Touchet also joined Jacobson with a team high seven digs. Craig also chipped in with six digs.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday with a home match against Shepherd. The match is set for a 1 p.m. first serve in the McDonnell Center.
