Jason Asbell picked up his 100th career victory on Friday as the Senators defeated Salem International 79-42 in the McDonnell Center.
Asbell has led the Senators to an 8-1 start with one game remaining in the fall semester. Asbell is only the second coach to eclipse the century mark in wins at D&E and sits behind Nancy McFarlane (165) on the all-time list.
The Senators grabbed a 17-12 advantage over the first 10 minutes. However, Davis & Elkins picked up the tempo in the second and third quarter, outscoring Salem by 16 points in each frame, 26-10 and 27-11, respectively.
Alicia Roth led the way for the Senators on the scoresheet, one of two Senators in double figures. Roth scored 14 points and had four rebounds.
Kali Wilburn was second on the team with 12 points in the game. Wilburn also had for rebounds and collected an assist, block and steal.
Tajee Pledger led the Senators on the glass with six rebounds to go along with three points in the game.
Sydeny Turner led the team with three shots from behind the arc, all nine of her points. Turner also had five rebounds.
The Senators will return to action on Monday as they wrap up the fall semester, playing at Lenoir-Rhyne before heading into the holiday break. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in Hickory, North Carolina.
