ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team fell to Cedarville 3-0 on Friday night in the McDonnell Center in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
The Senators and Yellow Jackets played to a close first set, with the visitors pulling away late to win 25-22.
In the second set, Cedarville pulled away early, with Davis & Elkins closing the gap late. However, the Senators were only able to cut the deficit to two before the Yellow Jackets finished off a 25-20 win.
The third match was similar, however, the Senators were able to close the gap to one late, but Cedarville was able to keep the game from going to extra points, winning the match point to stop a 7-of-8-point run by the Senators.
The Senators split the attacking points on the night.
Elizabeth Estes finished with a team-high 10 kills.
Sasha Johnson had eight kills and
Devin Saucy and
Anna Gallup finished with seven kills.
Defensively,
Zoe Craig and
Michaela Touchet led with nine digs. Saucy finished with eight digs and
Kendall Jacobson also chipped in with seven digs.
Craig also recorded 33 assists in the match.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday with another G-MAC match against Ohio Valley. First serve is set for 1 p.m. in the McDonnell Center.
