Senators Volleyball earns 3-0 win over OVU

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over Ohio Valley to take control of the G-MAC Black Division with two games remaining in the conference regular season.
 
The Senators (12-17, 5-3 G-MAC) struggled early at times in each of the three sets, but D&E recovered in all three to earn a 25-14, 25-23, 25-19 victory over the Fighting Scots (7-24, 1-9 G-MAC)
 
Davis & Elkins hit at a .219 attacking percentage rate for the match and held Ohio Valley to just .087. The Senators also dominated at the net, recording 15 blocks, to just two for Ohio Valley.
 
Sasha Johnson led the way for the Senators with 11 kills. She was also second on the team, contributing to seven blocks.
 
Anna Gallup had seven kills and Kendall Jacobson had six kills to round out the top three attacking performances of the day.
 
Jacobson also had two aces in the match.
 
Raleigh Weaver led the team in blocks, contributing to eight in the match. Devin Saucy also contributed to four blocks.
 
Zoe Craig led the team with 26 assists in the match. Saucy contributed three and Johnson also had one.
 
Saucy led the team on the back line with 10 digs, the only Senator in double figures. Michaela Touchet had nine digs and Craig finished with eight.
 
The Senators have a full game advantage over Ursuline (16-12, 4-4 G-MAC) and a two game lead over Malone (6-21, 3-5 G-MAC) with two games to play, one against each of the two schools.
 
The Senators will face Ursuline on Friday with a chance to lock up the division. The match is set for a 4 p.m. first serve in the McDonnell Center.
