ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team fell to No. 20 Lewis University 91-47 on Saturday in non-conference action in the McDonnell Center.
The Senators were unable to keep pace with the strong start from Lewis, as the Flyers started on a 9-0 run and went up 22-10 after one quarter.
Davis & Elkins was outrebounded 48-25 in the match, one of the big differences. The Senators were also held to 27 percent shooting while Lewis shot 56 percent in the game. Most of the Flyers points came in the paint, with 44 in the match.
The Senators were led by
Stephanie Wooten, who finished with 17 points in the match. Wooten also had two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Jay Kilpatrick was the only other Senator in double figures, recording 12 points to go along with two assists.
Sydney Turner led the Senators on the glass with six rebounds in the game.
The Senators will return to action on Monday, traveling to Bluefield to take on Bluefield State. The match is set for a 6 p.m. tip off.
