Turner's Career Night Leads Senators To 110-55 Win Over BSC

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - Sydney Turner set a school record for three pointers in a game and the Davis & Elkins Women's Basketball team hit the century mark for the second time this season, as the Senators topped Bluefield State 110-55 Monday night.

Turner led all players in scoring with 33 points, including 10 from behind the arc, setting a new Senators record. The junior from Poquoson, Virginia was 11-for-18 from the field, including 10-for-17 from 3-point range.

Turner was also 1-for-1 from the free-throw line with two assists and two steals in 29 minutes of action.

With 10 three pointers, Turner tied the Great Midwest Athletic Conference single-game record for threes in a game. However, Turner's mark wasn't the only record that was set on the night.

Stephanie Wooten also had a big night for the Senators as well, as the senior scored 20 points and recorded 13 assists for her fourth double-double of the season. Wooten's 13 assists also tied a single-game G-MAC record and set a new personal mark.

Tajee Pledger, Jay Kilpatrick and Kali Wilburn all finished with nine points for the Senators. In total, 11 Senators got on the scoresheet in the contest.

The Senators shot 58 percent in the game and set a season high in assists with 30 in the game. D&E also recorded 14 steals, helping to score 38 points off of 25 total turnovers from Bluefield State.

D&E's 110 points is the most points scored by the Senators since a 123-45 victory over Salem International in December of 2010.

Davis & Elkins will return to action on Saturday, as the team travels to NCAA Division I opponent Radford for an exhibition game. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
