Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Senators defeat Cedarville 1-0 in G-MAC play

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Davis & Elkins College Men's soccer team picked up a key win on the road at Cedarville University 1–0 Thursday night in G-MAC play.

The Senators started the game on their back foot, as three of the first four shots came from Cedarville in the opening nine minutes of the game. However, the Senators settled in and controlled the majority of the first half, but the teams went into the break scoreless.

The Senators came out quickly in the second half testing Cedarville with a couple of shots in the opening minutes.

Eventually, the visitors found a breakthrough as D&E scored in the 60th minute to take the lead.

Pablo Salvador Lopez threaded a pass through traffic in the box and found Fredrik Hedemark who scored from 12 yards out, beating Graham Sachtleben low for his first goal of the season.

The game stayed pretty open for the next 25 minutes, with the teams trading corner kicks and occasional shots. However, Hedi Mehnaoui stopped the only real test from Cedarville to maintain the slim advantage for the Senators heading into the final minutes.

Defensively, the senators stood tall in the final few minutes, keeping Cedarville from posting a shot, while preserving the win and the shutout. Mehnaoui finished with four saves in the match.

With the win, the Senators completed the regular season series sweep against Cedarville, also defeating the Yellow Jackets 3-1 in Elkins last month.

D&E will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Vienna, West Virginia to take on Ohio Valley University in G-MAC play.
