AURORA, Ill. – The Davis & Elkins College Senators Volleyball team dropped its final match of the GLVC/GLIAC/G-MAC Crossover Classic at the Great Lakes Center.
The Senators found themselves in a back-and-forth battle with Saint Joseph's College (Ind.) going four sets in a 14-25, 26-24, 19-25, 24-26 defeat.
The Senators struggled with attacking errors for most of the game, but showed some bright spots in the second set to tie things up at 1. The Senators also controlled large portions of the game defensively up front at the net.
D&E again recovered after the loss in the third set, but Saint Joseph's was able to steal it at the end to give the Senators the loss.
Elizabeth Estes (10), Kendall Jacobson (7) and Sasha Johnson (5) led the way for the Senators in kills.
Johnson and Estes led the team in blocks with nine and six, respectively. Charisse Mitchell also had five blocks.
Anna Gallup and Zoe Craig split the assists, recording 14 and 12, respectively. Michaela Touchet led the Senators with 23 digs, while Kendall Jacobson recorded 11 digs and Craig finished with 10.
Davis & Elkins will return to action Friday with its first match of two on the road in G-MAC play. The Senators will face Kentucky Weslyan at 7 p.m.
