ELKINS – The D&E Men's Soccer team battled the fog and a red card to defeat Trevecca Nazarene 3-2 on Thursday night.
 
An immense fog loomed over Nuttall Field for the G-MAC contest and the Senators (7-3-2, 6-2-1 G-MAC) broke through first when Pablo Salvador Lopez scored after a feed from Tim Staerz. The 32nd minute goal was Salvador Lopez's second tally of the season.
 
The Senators took the 1-0 lead to the break, outshooting Trevecca (5-7-1, 3-4-1 G-MAC) 8-2 in the opening half.
 
The fog remained for the second half, but it was the Trojans who broke through next with Baylor McKay's fourth goal of the season in the 56th minute.
 
It didn't take long for the Senators to respond however, as Staerz shot minutes later was saved by Tyler Delgado, but Abel Ameyaw knocked home the rebound for his second goal of the campaign in to give the Senators the lead back in the 61st minute.
 
Less than 90 seconds later, the Senators doubled their lead when Ross Stewart whipped a cross in to find Staerz, who calmly finished past Delgado for the eventual game winner.
 
Things weren't finished as the fog lifted and hurdles came for the hosts. Fredrik Hedemark picked up a red card on a 50-50 ball at the edge of the box, colliding with Delgado. Then, being down to 10 men, D&E conceded an own goal as a cross bounced in off of Stewart in the 80th minute.
 
Davis & Elkins College will return to action on Saturday for Homecoming. The Senators will kick off with Kentucky Wesleyan at 2:30 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
