ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Soccer team fell to Alderson Broaddus 0-2 Saturday night to close out the first half of the G-MAC season.
The Senators (4-5-0, 4-3-0 G-MAC) and Battlers (3-4-1, 3-3-1 G-MAC) played to a scoreless draw over the first 45 minutes, with each team recording four shots and testing the opposition keeper just one time.
However, the Senators fell behind in the second half on a quick bad spell for the hosts, as Alderson Broaddus scored two goals in 91 seconds.
The first goal came in the 51st minute when Brittany Minor took a pass from Carolyn Gougeon and then placed a shot past
Lauren Hill for the opening goal of the game.
In the 52nd minute, Minor doubled her tally and the lead for the visitors as she collected a weird bounce in the box that had the Senators out of position and then finished it for the second goal.
The Senators outshot Alderson Broaddus through the rest of the game, but were unable to really test Diyonus Walls with just two total efforts on goal.
The Senators will return to action on Thursday with the first of two straight on the road at Cedarville. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
