Jordan Willis takes over for his first season at the helm of the Davis & Elkins volleyball program in 2020, taking over as the seventh head coach in program history. He was officially announced as the program's next head coach on June 22, 2020.
A four-year starting setter at St. Mary’s College of California, Willis brings over 19 years of coaching experience to Elkins. Most recently Willis spent five seasons at Otero Junior College in Colorado, where he led the Rattlers to their first Region IX championship, a seventh-place national finish and trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Tournament appearance in 2019.
The winningest coach in OJC history by percentage, Willis posted an 89-48 (.649) mark in his four seasons. He coached Brilane Manchengo, the first All-American player in program history in addition to three other all-region first team selections. He helped the 2018 squad to its first national ranking in program history, guiding the Rattlers up to 19th in the NJCAA Volleyball Poll.
Willis served as an assistant coach at Colorado State-Pueblo from 2011-16, working primarily as the team’s offensive and recruiting coordinator. CSUP earned three berths to the RMAC tournament in 2011, 2014 and 2015 while Willis was on the staff. He shared duties in scouting, breakdown of film, practice planning, management of equipment and team travel.
He spent 2007-11 seasons as an assistant coach at Texas A&M Kingsville, working extensively in recruiting and scouting while also teaching within the department of health and kinesiology at the institution. The 2007 campaign marked the first winning season for the Javelinas since 1998 as Willis was part of the second most successful coaching staff in program history.
Willis coached the men and women’s club volleyball teams at Saint Mary’s College of California from 2003-07. He developed budgeting and fundraising plans for both teams while also collaborating with staff to ensure academic success of players.
Willis earned his bachelor’s degree in history from St. Mary’s in 2002 before completing a master’s degree in physical education in 2006.
