Josie Matlick joins the Davis & Elkins women's soccer program for her first season as the team's associate head coach in 2021-22.
Matlick brings an impressive playing and coaching career to Elkins, most recently serving as a graduate assistant coach at NCAA DII Eastern New Mexico for the past two years. She helped guide the ENM women's soccer program to its best start in program history during the 2019 season, capitalizing on a preseason ranking of number 10 by the United Soccer Coaches.
Matlick coached three conference players of the week and the Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year during her time in Portales. She helped recruit and sign seven student-athletes for the 2021 season.
Prior to her time with the Greyhounds, Matlick played at FC Muri in Switzerland during the 2019 season while volunteering for FIFA as a team representative with the Vancouver White Caps. She brings multiple years of youth coaching experience to Elkins, primarily mentoring children from ages 5-9.
Matlick started her collegiate playing career at Otero Junior College for two seasons as a defender before transferring to Mars Hill in North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Mars Hill in 2018, later obtaining her master's in physical education and sports administration from Eastern New Mexico in May 2021.
