Box Score SALEM, Va. — No. 4 seed Davis & Elkins softball saw its run at the Mountain East Conference Tournament come to a close Thursday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to No. 3 seed Concord at Moyer Sports Complex in a double-elimination contest.
The Senators were eliminated after suffering back-to-back losses in the tournament, falling to No. 1 seed Charleston on Wednesday before Thursday's matchup with the Mountain Lions.
Concord struck first in the opening inning, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI single from K. McCord. The game remained a pitcher's duel through the middle innings, as Davis & Elkins starter Saylor Kneeland limited the Mountain Lions to just two hits across 4.2 innings of work while allowing one run.
Davis & Elkins broke through in the fifth inning to even the score at 1-1. Madison Smith reached and later scored on an RBI double to right-center field by Sammie Jarvis, providing the Senators' lone run of the game.
The Mountain Lions answered in the sixth inning, capitalizing on timely hitting and a Davis & Elkins error. Hintz delivered a two-RBI single to right field, with one run scoring on the play and another coming across on an error, giving Concord a 3-1 advantage.
Jarvis took the loss in the circle for the Senators, allowing two runs (one earned) over 1.1 innings of relief. Kneeland turned in a strong start, giving up just one earned run while striking out one and walking three.
Offensively, Davis & Elkins recorded five hits, with Jarvis and Ashlyn Zapach each collecting doubles. Smith, Alyssa Haynes and Lorena Ruiz-Rubio added hits for the Senators.
Concord pitcher Hintz earned the complete-game victory, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five.
Thursday's result marks the end of the 2026 season for Davis & Elkins, as the Senators conclude their MEC Tournament appearance in Salem.
