Box Score

ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College men's lacrosse team rallied late but fell in overtime, dropping a 12-11 Great Midwest Athletic Conference decision to Lake Erie College on Tuesday evening at Nuttall Field.

The Senators erased a four-goal deficit in the fourth quarter and briefly took the lead in the final minutes of regulation before Lake Erie forced overtime and scored the game-winner with 21 seconds remaining in the extra period.

JayC Morlog gave Davis & Elkins an early advantage, scoring the game's first goal with 13:24 remaining in the opening quarter. After Lake Erie responded to tie the game, Devon Garcia converted a pass from Hunter Bradshaw late in the first to put the Senators back in front, 2-1.

Lake Erie seized momentum in the second quarter, scoring seven goals to take an 8-4 lead into halftime.

Davis & Elkins began to close the gap in the second half. Xzavier Jankowiak opened the third-quarter scoring for the Senators, and Garcia added another before Karsen Kronen scored late in the period to trim the deficit to 10-7 entering the fourth quarter.

The Senators mounted their comeback in the final frame. Garcia opened the quarter with a goal off an assist from Charlie Taylor, and Taylor followed with an unassisted tally to make it a one-goal game. Morlog tied the contest at 10-10 with just over five minutes remaining.

Garcia then gave Davis & Elkins its first lead since the opening quarter, finishing a pass from Jordan Delorme with 2:34 remaining to make it 11-10. Lake Erie answered in dramatic fashion, however, as Cramer scored with four seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.

In the extra period, both teams generated chances before Cramer struck again, scoring his fourth goal of the night off an assist from Joey Ellison to secure the 12-11 victory for the Storm.

Garcia led the Senators with five goals on 11 shots, including eight shots on goal. Charlie Taylor finished with two goals and an assist, while Morlog added two goals. Jankowiak and Kronen each contributed a goal for Davis & Elkins.

Kade Melton controlled the faceoff circle for the Senators, winning 15 of 25 draws and collecting a team-high eight ground balls. Goalkeeper Avery Linthicum recorded 17 saves in the loss.

Davis & Elkins will return to action Saturday, March 21, when the Senators host Tiffin University at noon at Nuttall Field in G-MAC play.
