Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. — Frostburg State University used a fast start and balanced scoring attack to defeat Davis & Elkins College 23-8 on Wednesday afternoon at Nuttall Field.
The Bobcats scored the first seven goals of the contest and led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. Frostburg added four more goals in the second to take an 11-2 advantage into halftime and continued to pull away with a seven-goal third quarter.
Frostburg finished with a 59-19 edge in total shots and controlled possession throughout, winning 27 of 34 faceoffs and holding a 42-16 advantage in ground balls.
Devon Garcia led Davis & Elkins with three goals and one assist. Hunter Bradshaw added two goals, while Karsen Kronen recorded a goal and an assist. James Besten and JayC Morlog each found the back of the net in the fourth quarter as the Senators closed the game with four goals in the final period.
Avery Linthicum made seven saves in 31:39 in goal for the Senators before Jacob Orr entered and recorded eight saves over the final 28:21.
Frostburg was paced by Hayden Celio and Alex Tyler, who each totaled five points. Henry Sykes added three goals, while Kobe Link, RJ Wilhelm, Gavin Weaver and Wyatt Dooley each scored multiple times.
Davis & Elkins returns to action Wednesday, March 4 at 1 p.m. against Felician University at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland.
