Box Score ETTRICK, Va. — The Davis & Elkins College men's lacrosse team fell 14-6 to Virginia State University on Wednesday evening at Rogers Stadium.
Virginia State opened the game with four goals in the first quarter and added four more in the second to take an 8-1 lead into halftime. The Trojans maintained control in the second half, outscoring the Senators 6-5 over the final two periods.
Devon Garcia led Davis & Elkins with three goals, recording his second hat trick of the season. Karsen Kronen added two goals, including a man-down score in the second quarter, while Hunter Bradshaw accounted for the remaining goal.
Goalkeeper Avery Linthicum played all 60 minutes for the Senators and finished with 11 saves.
Virginia State was paced by Andre Bigham, who totaled four goals and two assists. Hayden Morrison and Devray Kirkland II each scored twice, while Noah Byers added two goals.
Davis & Elkins totaled 29 shots and won 14 faceoffs but was held scoreless on six extra-man opportunities. Virginia State converted three of seven man-up chances.
The Senators were originally scheduled to play at Holy Family University on Saturday, Feb. 14, but the contest was canceled due to field conditions.
Davis & Elkins will return to action Saturday, Feb. 21, when it hosts Chowan University at 5 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
