ELKINS, W. Va. - The Davis & Elkins College men's basketball program is excited to announce the hiring of Sam Rolle IV as an assistant coach. A 2025 graduate of D&E, Rolle returns to the program after an outstanding five-year playing career that left an indelible mark on both the college and the Mountain East Conference.
Rolle joined Senator Nation in the 2020-21 season and quickly became a cornerstone of the team's success. Known for his leadership, consistency and elite skill set, he started 103 of 113 games during his career, averaging 18.7 points, 5.3 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. His name is etched throughout the D&E and MEC record books, ranking second all-time in scoring at D&E with 2,116 career points and fourth all-time in MEC history. He also holds the program record for career assists with 610, which ranks fourth in MEC history. In addition, he finished second in school history and fifth in the conference with 213 career steals, and is fifth in the MEC in free throws made with 497.
Throughout his career, Rolle earned numerous accolades. He was named MEC Freshman of the Year in 2021 and was a two-time MEC first-team selection, in addition to earning second-team honors. He was also recognized on the MEC All-Tournament Team and received the Heart Hustle Award. His play earned him a spot on the All-Atlantic Region Team as well.
"Sam has been a leader on and off the floor since the day he stepped on campus," said head coach Daniel Harris. "He understands our culture, our expectations and what it takes to compete at the highest level. We're thrilled to have him continue his journey with us — this time on the sidelines."
