ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins men's golf team has been picked second in the Mountain East Conference's 2025 preseason poll, the league office announced Friday.
Charleston, the defending MEC champion, received nine of 10 first-place votes and topped the poll with 81 points. Davis & Elkins followed in second with 67 points after a historic 2024 season.
The Senators captured the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Championship in dramatic fashion last spring, edging out host Gannon University in a tie-breaker at Whispering Woods Golf Club. The victory marked the program's second regional title in the last five years, with the first coming in 2023.
With the win, Davis & Elkins advanced to the NCAA Division II Championship, representing the MEC on the national stage. This fall, the Senators return a strong veteran core led by seniors Samuel Rached and Leonardo Turra, along with juniors Isaac Gregson and Lucio Pavicich.
The MEC Championships are scheduled for Oct. 6-8 at the Cobb Course at Glade Springs, the same site where Charleston won last year.
